Black Belt Sunday 7th July 2025
The black belt exam started at 9am at the RSPB in Sandy. We all meet in the main car park, then karateka testing go for a 2 mile run, this can be done at their own speed, slow or fast, but they cannot stop.

Everyone completed this first part easily, even the people who hate running 🙂 We class this as the easy part of the black belt test, but it certainly isn’t easy for many, but they had all prepared really well so everyone finished the run and then headed to the Biggleswade Karate Dojo.
Kihon (basics)
First part of the black belt test is the Kihon (basic techniques). Everything is demonstrated, from white belt to brown belt basics. This section is extremely tiring but once again, everyone had prepared.
Kata (forms)
Next is the Kata (forms). Once again, everything is demonstrated, from white belt to brown belt kata, including the karateka’s favourite (tokui) kata.
Kumite (sparring)
Next is the Kumite (sparring). Once again, everything is demonstrated, from white belt to brown belt kumite, including shobu ippon kumite.

We have some extra curriculum added which for 1st kyu’s is kata Seipai and Yamani Ryu Bo kata, Choun No Kon.
For Shodan’s taking Nidan it’s kata Niseishi and Yamani Ryu Bo kata, Choun No Kon.
We are so proud of everyone who tested, you were all amazing. Oss!
