Kids Karate Classes in Biggleswade.
Build Confidence, Focus and Fitness at Zanshin Karate Dojo
Karate offers a lot more than kicks and punches. Parents tell us they see changes in their children within weeks of startk record, not just a fitness fad that disappears in a year. Zanshin Karate Dojo’s Biggleswade club is our Honbu (home) dojo, first established in 1976, and it’s where it all started for Zanshin. Nearly five decades later, we’re still teaching traditional Shotokan karate to Biggleswade families, right at Biggleswade Recreation Centre, Eagle Farm Road.
Whether your child is 4 years old and full of energy, or a teenager who needs a confidence boost, there’s a class for them here.
Confidence, learning a new skill and progressing through belts gives children a real, earned sense of achievement.
Focus and discipline, karate class structure (bowing in, listening to instructions, practising patiently) translates directly into better focus at school.
Fitness, the fun way, kids get a full-body workout without realising it’s “exercise.”
Respect and self-control, traditional karate places huge emphasis on respect for instructors, training partners, and self-control, not aggression.
Anti-bullying skills, practical self-defence combined with the confidence to walk away from confrontation, not seek it out.
Because karate is progressive and belt-based, every child, whatever their fitness level or personality, can see their own progress, at their own pace.
What to Expect from Kids Karate Classes at Biggleswade
Our Biggleswade club runs junior classes for children from age 4 upwards, in a friendly, family-orientated environment at Biggleswade Recreation Centre. Classes are structured, safe, and led by experienced, DBS-checked instructors who know how to keep young children engaged without losing the discipline that makes karate valuable in the first place.
New starters don’t need any equipment or experience, just comfortable clothing for the first couple of sessions. If your child decides to continue, we’ll guide you through kit (a karate gi) and grading.

Not Just for Kids, Adults Train Here Too
Biggleswade is a genuinely family club. While junior classes are our biggest draw, we also run, adult classes for ages up to 65+, and many of our families train alongside each other, parents and children training in the same club, on the same evening, is a common (and popular) setup. Age really is just a number in Shotokan karate.
We welcome children from age 4. Our instructors adapt class content depending on age and ability, so younger children and older juniors both get an appropriately challenging session.
No. Just bring comfortable clothing for the first two free trial classes — no karate suit or equipment needed until they decide to continue.
